- Международное энергетическое агенство: международная межправительственная организация; объединяет развитые капиталистические страны - импортеры нефти; учреждено в 1974 г. по инициативе США в качестве автономной организации в рамках Организации экономического сотрудничества и развития (ОЭСР) в противовес Организации стран-экспортеров нефти (ОПЕК); насчитывает 31 страну-члена. Основная цель: разработка и проведение согласованной энергетической политики в отношение других стран и принятие мер по снижению зависимости участников от внешних источников снабжения энергетическим сырьем. Агенство предназначено для предотвращения очередного нефтяного кризиса посредством внимательного изучения соотношения предложения и спроса, наблюдения за состоянием уровня запасов нефти. Штаб-квартира МАЭ находится в Париже
